Fall Foliage Around Long Island - Coach Realtors

One of the most lovely things about autumn is the color-changing leaves. Just something about those gold, orange, and red tones makes you feel comfortable. The leaves in Long Island typically start changing in early September, and they grow more beautiful as the month goes on. Our REALTORS® know the area well and recommend visiting one of these top spots for fall leaf peeping.

  • Bayard Cutting Arboretum: 440 Montauk Highway, Great River, NY 11739
If you're looking at East Islip homes for saleBayard Cutting Arboretum is just minutes away. This 600+ acre property is essentially a museum of trees, so naturally, it is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the changing colors of fall.

Bayard Cutting Arboretum charges an admission fee of $8 per vehicle. Once inside, you can spend hours strolling along the arboretum's paths. Make sure you spend some time in Oak Park, a section of the property with a collection of Black Oak trees. Another beautiful area is the Great Lawn, home to a 125-year-old beech tree.

  • Heckscher State Park: Heckscher Parkway Field 1, East Islip, NY 11730
Heckscher State Park is a state park on the south shore of Long Island. The park has miles of paved trails, so you can take a walk or a bike ride to admire the trees. You may also want to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy under a picnic pavilion. Several are surrounded by beautiful trees, and you'll see birds and deer in the distance.

Heckscher State Park is conveniently located near Suffolk County homes for sale. Dogs are permitted on nature trails but must be on a leash.

  • Sands Point Preserve Conservancy: 127 Middle Neck Rd., Sands Point, NY 11050
