If you're an aspiring musician or are interested in getting a behind-the-scenes look into the music industry, you won't want to miss the "Ask the Experts" event on Friday, May 17th. It will be held at the Lighthouse from noon until 5 p.m. Last year's event included yoga, one-on-one mentoring sessions with the artists, an industry panel, a group listening session, and a wellness workshop. When the 2019 schedule is released, it will be updated on the MMF Ask the Experts page.
Depending on where you're coming from, your best transportation options may be the Hampton Jitney, Long Island Railroad, or the Hampton Hopper free shuttles. The Montauk Yacht Club is located at 32 Star Island Road, and the Montauk Lighthouse is located at 2000 Montauk Highway.
Although the open-air concerts are free, those going to the outdoor concerts will have to pay for museum admission. The cost for all three days is just $11 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $6 for children. The full admission price goes towards supporting the lighthouse, and your ticket also gives you the opportunity to tour the museum and climb to the top of the 200-year-old lighthouse.
For an inexpensive, fun, and family-friendly weekend, you can't go wrong with the Montauk Music Festival.

There's nothing like New York City excitement. NYC has 24/7 art, culture, and entertainment, but sometimes you just need a moment of peace. Our real estate agents recommend Gantry Plaza State Park. It's a city oasis in Long Island City that's close enough for you to enjoy a moment of peace and get right back to the action.
Gantry Plaza State Park is a peaceful green space that's perfect for a mid-city escape. The 12-acre park curves along the banks of the East River in Long Island City, Queens. Since its opening in 1998, the developers have transformed the park in stages to include activities and facilities for everyone.
Gantry Park offers traditional park amenities in a city setting. You'll find spaces for picnicking, organized sports, evening concerts and more. You can follow the curved steps down to the waterfront plaza. There you can sit quietly and look out over the river to a panoramic New York City skyline view. If you bring your fishing gear, you can claim a spot along one of four piers and cast your line into the river.
The park's location was once an abandoned dockyard and industrial site. Instead of tossing aside its past, Gantry Plaza State Park honors its once-thriving industrial roots. Two refurbished gantries give the park its name and a historical focal point. The structures were built in 1925 to help dock workers unload goods from railway cars and load them onto New Jersey-bound barges.
The bright red, four-story Pepsi-Cola neon sign is a national landmark and an essential element of Gantry Park's personality. The original sign was placed on top of the company's bottling plant in 1940. After decades of transitions and deterioration, Pepsi reproduced the sign in 1993. Despite the reproduction sign's young age, the Landmarks Preservation Commission gave it landmark status.
The Pepsi-Cola sign and the gantries are unmistakable waterfront landmarks. Together, they make Gantry Park stand out when viewed from either side of the river.
Gantry Park is a great location for families that want a park with more than a fabulous view. There's pier fishing, Adirondack chairs for lounging, and picnic tables for casual outdoor dining. The playgrounds provide child-friendly fun, and the park's playing fields are available for organized sports.
Gantry Plaza State Park hosts a schedule of events and concerts. Visit the New York Parks website for information on Fishing Fridays, Live at Gantries, and other upcoming events.
As with most New York State Parks, Gantry Plaza State Park visitors must pay a vehicle access fee. If you have an Empire Pass card, you qualify for entrance to Gantry Park, other New York State Parks, and State Department of Environmental Conservation venues.
When you schedule a group picnic, you must pay a fee based on the number in the group. You must apply for a permit to conduct a wedding photo shoot or other photo or video production. Teams must apply for a permit to use park playfields.

While finding the perfect Long Island home for you is our priority at Coach REALTORS®, we also want you to discover all that the area has to offer. For a fun-filled day, our REALTORS® leave your cares behind and head out to Coney Island and Luna Park where adventure awaits in this iconic amusement venue which was inspired by the original 1903 park.
Coney Island is legendary, in part because of its history as the place to go for a day of fun, food, and thrills. With the original Luna Park being one of three amusement parks established in the early twentieth century on Coney Island, its newer namesake embodies all the excitement of years gone by with modern touches and attractions. Although the original park was devastated by fire in 1944, visitors will find that today's Luna Park and Coney Island are reminiscent of its glorious past. The Parachute Jump ride--once nearly everyone's favorite--is no longer in service, but the attraction still stands, now covered in thousands of LED lights. The new Thunderbolt coaster pays homage to the classic wooden coaster that served up thrills to park guests for decades, and visitors of all ages will delight in riding the beautifully restored B & B Carousell.
For guests who are looking for over-the-top thrills, Luna Park makes the grade with rides like the Coney Island Cyclone, Zenobio, and the Sling Shot. Feel the wind in your face as you take a ride on the Steeplechase, another of the park's classic thrill rides with ties to its past, and get your adrenaline pumping as you climb aboard the Coney Clipper. If less intense attractions are more your taste, rides like the Circus Coaster and Lynn's Trapeze are sure to please. Younger riders will love the Mermaid Parade and Speed Boat rides. At Luna Park, you'll also find plenty of midway type games that bring back the nostalgia of a summer carnival. Try your luck at one or all, and bring back a fun prize as a souvenir.
All the excitement you'll find at Coney Island's Luna Park might cause you to work up an appetite. You'll find plenty of mouthwatering treats throughout the park from savory and satisfying to refreshingly sweet. Enjoy delicious seafood offerings at Place to Beach, and don't miss the original Feltman's of Coney Island for the ultimate hot dog experience. Cool down with a creamy scoop from Coney's Cones or indulge with a treat from Fried Delights. You'll make so many great memories when you spend the day at Luna Park, and Thunderbolt Retail captures them in photos that you can take with you. Purchase souvenirs and trinkets at the Cyclone Shop and Last Stop Coney Island to remember your day.

Our real estate agents will be hard at work helping you find your new home, so you can rest easy and take a break from the house hunt while you discover one of the area's most fascinating attractions.
Fire Island Lighthouse is located at the western point of Fire Island and is open to the public for tours and special events. For many visitors, the highlight of touring the lighthouse is climbing the tower, where you can look out upon a beautiful ocean vista from the barrier island. If you visit when the skies are clear, you'll likely be able to see the New York City skyline. Visitors are treated to several interactive areas in the Keeper's Quarters, detailing the importance of the landmark in local maritime history. Step inside the lighthouse keeper's daily routine, and learn just how demanding their way of life has been throughout history. See actual lenses that have been used in the lighthouse in the new Lens Building, and stop by the Boathouse where you'll find life-saving equipment and a surf boat on display.
As part of the National Park Service, Fire Island offers visitors a diverse and beautiful span of nature to explore in addition to the lighthouse. There are plenty of open spaces to enjoy on the barrier island, and ranger-guided tours can be arranged to experience the seashore, forests, and salt marshes of Fire Island.
While visiting Fire Island Lighthouse, you'll discover its rich history and the important role it has played in keeping both travelers and sailors safe throughout the years. The current lighthouse was built in the mid-19th century, replacing an older, smaller version, and was lit for the first time in late 1858. The lighthouse played a crucial role in guiding ships into the New York Harbor as they arrived from Europe, often being the first visible landmark to immigrants on board, and was in service until 1973.
Bring the family and discover the story and surroundings at Fire Island Lighthouse. Tours are available daily for a small admission fee. Be sure to stop by the gift shop before you leave for unique souvenirs that the kids will love.
