- West Hills County Park - Sweet Hollow Road, Huntington, NY 11747
Considered by those in the know to be a hidden gem among Suffolk County parks, the charming landscape of West Hills County Park is a perfect place to run this spring. Located close to these Huntington homes for sale, the park includes miles of scenic and well-groomed nature trails in a mixed deciduous forest. The highlight of the park is the Walt Whitman Trail, which crosses the highest point on Long Island, the 400-foot "peak" of Jayne's Hill.
- Trail View State Park - 8101 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, NY 11797
One of the great hiking and running destinations on Long Island, Trail View State Park is a 7.4-mile linear park that passes through of the most picturesque forests, marshlands and fields in the region. The trail is beautifully maintained and serves as a link in the Nassau/Suffolk Greenbelt Trail, which extends from the north shore of Suffolk County all the way to the south shore of Nassau County. There are numerous locations where you can access the trail, including the primary trailhead in Woodbury, just minutes from many Nassau County homes for sale.
- Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail - Main Street, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776
Offering a clean asphalt surface for running, walking and cycling, the Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail is a great resource for Suffolk County runners. The trail was built in two sections in 2009 and 2014 and now stretches 3.4 miles through forests, farmlands, and meadows between Setauket and Port Jefferson Station. Plans are currently underway to extend the trail a further 10 miles along a future rails-to-trails route. You'll find the Port Jefferson trailhead near the intersection of Main Street and Hallock Avenue, just near these Port Jefferson homes for sale.
- Sans Souci County Park - Broadway Ave., Sayville, NY 11782
With a name that means "without worry" in French, Sans Souci County Park lives up to its moniker, offering more than 300 acres of shady woods and picturesque ponds. Surrounded by Suffolk County homes for sale, the park is also a nature preserve, harboring a rich diversity of plant and animal life. Two trails, the 1.3-mile White Loop and the 2-mile Orange Loop provide ample ground for runners to get in shape among some of Long Island's most serene scenery.

With five trails ranging from 1.5 to over 13 miles in length, Heckscher State Park is a great destination for runners and hikers of all skill and fitness levels. Opened in 1922, this long-standing favorite preserves 1,600 acres of woods and wetlands, including a long stretch of beach along Long Island's south shore. Just minutes from numerous East Islip homes for sale, the park also includes a section of the 31-mile Long Island Greenbelt Trail, one of our all-time favorite running routes.
